Hey,

I'm setting up a new wireless LAN at home. I was debating which brand to go with. I used to have an SMC wireless barricade and was considering going with the new SMC Barricade Turbo 11/22Mbps Wireless Cable/DSL Broadband Router. Any opinions on this or if there is another recommended brand. I did see netgear getting some good marks at Tom's hardware, but I'm always a bit skeptical with his results.

I started out with Linksys WAP and PCI Card. But my laptop kept freezing all the time. Returned Linksys and tried Netgear MA814 router and MA401 PCI card and it works great. I guess it totally depends on your hardware and some might work well and some might keeo giving you trouble. I guess you will have to go with the trial and error method!

BTW, i got a good deal from CompUSa for Netgear items w/ 30 + 10 mail-in rebate and it worked out to $139 for the card and WAP together.

Good Luck

I use the Linksys and have been very happy with it. I have helped people with NetGear and it is a fine system. Dan
