I installed a network card in a SCO system and I am trying to set it up.
When I run netconfig, Add new LAN adapter,it finds the card (3COM 3C900). However when I continue the set up I get a message "No protocol stacks available on the system are supported on this device". So I went to the protocol option and it doesn't allow me to choose anything. What am I doing wrong? Is there something wrong with the card?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you saying I should use that command, "scoadmin networking"? It is not available on my system. Sorry if I misunderstood you.

scoadmin if it is available to you
network is what you are attempting to administer

Might help if you would tell us what you have.

what version of sco? (host possibly?)
uname -X
go into custom and see if it says enterprise.

Many SCO systems were shipped without the TCP/IP package, There were several flavors to choose from. To get the networking you had to get the Enterprise option.

Thanks for your help. Sorry I'm not that familiar with SCO.
I was running "scoadmin->networks->network configuration manager" when I had the mentioned problem.
uname -X gave the following:
System=SCO_SV
Node=xxxx
Release=3.2v5.0.5
KernalID=98/07/02
Machine=i80386
BusType=ISA
Custom came up with the following three lines:
MenuPort Interface (MPI) Package (ver 3.2.3)
SCO OpenServer Host System (ver 5.0.5m)
UDK Compatibility Module for OpenServer 5.0.5 (ver 5.0.5a)
Does this mean that I can not set up networking because I do not have the Enterprise option?
Thanks for all your help!

That's exactly what it means. You need to upgrade or re-install the 'Enterprise' version.

Thanks so much for all your help. I'll take it from here.

And when you do the upgrade you might also want to do the patching that your system needs:
505a
497c
600a
642

They would have shown up under custom if installed.
