hello there
I've step up a client-server DB using MS Access as front end and Sql Server Database as back-end at my work place, I was successful in connecting to the sql server locally within the private network but now I need to make MS access connect remotely to the sql server through the internet.
I've done my fair share of research. I understand all the risks but this is a test database and its very small. I've already configured the firewall and the things that need to be done on sql management studio. I found that I need a Public IP address to connect remotely and also to forward the port on the router. I have no Idea how I connect to the internet and all I know is that my company uses a proxy server. I need to speak with the IT department regarding this and I don't want to look dumb while doing that. How should I explain this to the IT department in a more technical way?? or is the way I've written here will do?
thanks in advance,
Danny
