I have an ASUS p4b-533E with Raid that I am presently using without the Raid activated. My processer is a Pentium 4 2.26 mhz with 266DDR memory. What I want to do is place two Maxtor 7200 udma 133 drives in the Raid area using them as one drive and an 8.4 maxtor UDMA 33 in the regular area for a basic system backup. Do I have to load Windows XP on all three drives and how do I configue so this will work? Would appreciate any help you may give me.

what do u mean as one drive??? and is 8.4 gb enough for backup?? just curious.

i do not think there is a way to combine 2 drives into 1 using any program, if that's what your talking about. *you cant make 2 hard drive designate as C or D, etc*

however, u can use both of dem, but they will be designated under different drive letters, one being c other being d, etc etc.

mark,

this is what you need to do...put the 2 maxtor drives on one of your raid channels. go into your bios and set all of your boot devices to your raid option. now when you exit your bios and get pass the bios boot screen you will need to create press ctrl + H, or what ever it tell you to press to get into the raid setting utility. what you will want to do is create and array using the 2 maxtor drives. once that is done the machine will reboot. go into the bios again and set your first boot device to the cd drive. have your xp cd in the drive...just pay attention when you reboot b/c it will ask you to press F9 if you have to load you raid controller drivers and you do...now you will just choose that drive (the created array) to install windows to.
