I need to setup log shipping but because of the connection to the scondary server it would take a very long time to copy the backup over (900GB) so we are going to back it up to a USB disk and courier it to site.

How long would I have available to restore the backup on the destination before log shipping would be unable to sync i.e if I backed up the source at 09:00 on Monday and the disk arrived at site at 09:00 on the Tuesday would the log shipping wizard still run ok?

This is as per line item 13 on the MSDN site
Biglebowskis Razor - with all things being equal if you still can't find the answer have a shave and go down the pub.

First let me say I have not had luck myself with using an existing backup. That is just me.

Since Log Shipping works on transaction log backups, as long as the transaction log did not get truncated I would think you would be okay.

The Transaction Log would need truncated at the same time as the backup.

Please test as I am not an expert but have used Log Shipping quite a bit.
