I have a client that gets about 7 million hits a month. We are looking for the best way to split that into two seperate load balanced solutions. Running redhat 9 enterprise edition on two dual xeon servers with MyleX raid controllers. The database is mysql, we want to seperate traffic based on user login (alphabetical) if it makes sense. We are using a single internet connection out and I am not sure if I need to cluster or load balance. The Mylex 500 RAID controller says it does not support clustering, but I might be able to update the firmware on it to do that. The idea here is to ease the CPU crunching on both new boxes. They are setup with one external IP and gig-e internal direct connections for data transfer. I don't have a seperate external RAID enclosure. Has anyone done a project similar to this that can relay some helpful hints?

Thanks in advance.

First of all, 7mm hits/mo. That's great! You must be doing something right to keep that customer happy.

Would you please explain the application in a little more detail? NFS might be an option, but its hard to say without more background.

Which HTTPd?
Which MySQL?
What other apps?
Sessions used?
SSL used?
etc.....
