Hey,

In addition to the 20,000 other things I have to have done by Monday, my boss wants me to find out how to get our Groupwise 5.5 Post Office ready or configured for Groupwise Remote.

I have been to Novell's page, and haven't found what I'm looking for. What I need to know, or at least get pointed to, is what changes need to be made on the server side, whether we need a phone line that only accesses that server, etc. Any and all help will be appreciated.

I do know how to configure the GRoupwise on the desktops and laptops to access remotely... it's just that in my previous job I did not have the keys to the kingdom, so I don't know how the sever-side worked. Thanks,

you don't NEED an async gateway if the remote user can connect to the internet. You can communicate direct to a MTA/POA over the internet

GW6 or gw5.5e is better for this as it has a live remote option that is desgined for groupwise remote over the internet. Lots quicker then async gateway. Lee Smith

Lee,

How do I do that? Can you point me to somewhere that explains that? Thanks,

If thats the case, just setup GroupWise WebAccess or a GWIA for POP3.

The way Lee is suggesting, in order to accomplish this, you must make the IP Address of your POA available to the Internet. Either via NAT or direct. Once that has occurred, you have to configure GroupWise Remote for TCPIP access direct to your POA.

Then, your remote User connects to the Internet using any ISP anywhere, launches GroupWise Remote and gains access to his mail.

Please remember when doing this....

Make sure you have a FireWall. Once your POA (...or for that matter a GWIA or WebAccess Web Server) is connected to the Internet, you want to make it completely secure!

Good Luck!

Ack... since we're a state government agency, I don't see that idea flying too far. ;-) Thanks, tho. :) Jennifer Sigman

GroupWise Async Gateway is a bit more secure because its a phone line, not connected directly to the Internet.

Its sounds like the Async Gateway is the way to go for you. It may not as fast or as convenient as being connected to the Internet, but it gets the job done!

Its fairly straight forward to setup and get working. Let me know if you have any questions!

Good Luck!
