I just moved from a house with Cable internet. In my new house I was forced to get DSL(which i hate). At my other house the switch i used to share my cable worked like plug and play. When i installed my DSL/w the switch Windows XP Home edition kept saying a network cable is unplugged. Then i plugged the DSL modem directly into the computer and it works fine as you can tell. I really need to solve this problem cause i have 5 pieces of electronics that all use broadband, thanks. FYI its using a DHCP, which my cable had, so why wouldn't it work with DSL? Why was cable able to retrive more IPs'?

usually one uses a router (either hardware or software) to combine your local IP addresses to show as one IP to the ISP

has a software router for windows 9x I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
