Aloha from Hawaii!

I've successfully setup a new DN (576) to be used as a job line for the HR department.

What I want to do now is allow HR to update the external greeting with available jobs, while preventing callers to the jobline from leaving any voicemail.

Can anyone help this simpleton with this issue?

Mahalo! (Thanks!)

SET UP A LISTEN ONLY IN MAIL,576 WILL BE A VSDN IN MAIL

Ok, that's the ticket. Set up an announcement ID and changed DN 576 to an announcement service. Calling 576 sends the caller to the announcement ID recording. Life is good. Much thanking. :)

But here's my problem now. HR wants to be able to update the jobline. I'm the only one authorized on the maintenance terminal in the phone room.

What I'd like to see done is have HR call the voicemail system, and update the external greeting for 576. But now that's an announcement ID. Can HR still update the ID from their phone/office, without having access to the terminal?

Thanks for helping this clueless user!

-Robert

yes, go to the voice service dn table, you should have an entry for prompt maint, dial that, the service id, the the password, the second password field, in the ann service screen

do you have mermail or cp.. and do you need the prompts for setting up an announcement service?

John, I'm in MMail. I think I know what you're talking about. I saw the prompts when setting up the AS ID.

Since I'm in the phone room now, I'll check out what you're pointing me too... another few minutes and I'll know if I'm clued in, or clueless.

Thanks!

John (as if there was ever any doubt) was right on the money again. Thanks!

Everything worked just like it should. The only thing I'm going to change now is the number of rings for the extension, so that the jobline picks up after just a ring. (I think there is enough q&a in this forum on that subject already.)

Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) again!

not a problem, your right, it's in the same menu, after you log in, option 3 then 4, and you'll see the menu for announcement services, as well as voice service dn table. announcement services are simple, the 1st password is an access password, used only if you want callers to enter a password when they dial in. the second password is for changing recordings, pretty clean one page service

Oh well. I just tried changing the RCO to 2, which should be CFN2, which should be 5 rings.

Only now it seems that because I marped this extension onto the HR's phone (DN 500), I have to change extension 500 to 1 ring if I want to change DN 576.

Good grief.

Bah. I've been in the switch room so long, my body temperature has dropped 4 degrees. Four rings will have to do for today.

Needless to say, being a perfectionist, I'll be attempting to solve this problem tomorrow.

In my hope to be clueless, I got ahead of myself, it seems. (again.) :)

the command is rco x,.. the best way to use an an service is

ld 23
new
acd
2334
maxp 1
ncfw xxxx (mail)

take the number off all stations, then it goes on 0 rings, frees up the lic and tn, does not use an agent...

John, you da man.

I haven't played with ACDs in a long time, and try to steer clear of them. (The last time I did I had a GUI to help me out.)

But I went ahead and OUTed the TN that I was using for DN 576. I tried to create a new ACD, but it said the number was still in use. I finally realized that, even though I OUTed the number, the extension was still MARPed onto DN 500's phone.

Removing the MARPing from that phone set free the extension, and I created the ACD making only the changes you listed.

I think everything is now working %110.

Again, thank you very much for all your help!

(Now if I can just get some feeling back in my hands, and find me a nice hot cup of coffee, I'll be sitting pretty.)

coffee helps, and have a thermostat installed in the switchroom. believe it or not, i keep my switchroom at 76 or above. old people freeze to death below that
