Hello.

Has anyone set up dial-up access on Redhat that could offer me a lil help? Here is what I know: it is all in the /etc/ppp directory.

I'm a newbie to linux, and any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
J

There is good help available from the RedHat website for setting up ppp.

Check out
If you are using the gnome desktop (it might be in KDE but I don't know), you could just use the "dialup configuration" that RedHat places on the desktop. AV

Thanks for the links!

OK...how do I know if I have a winmodem or not? I would love to think that I don't but I'm not sure. I can't even see my modem from KPPP. In windows it is on COM3 so I am trying to use /dev/cua2 but it aint happnin. If it turns out I do have a winmodem, is there any way around this or am I just hosed for getting connected through linux. Thanks again!

J

Hi,

If its on com3 then it must be internal and probably on the pci bus. Do the command 'cat /proc/pci' and you may well get a description which will enable you to investigate further. For winmodems on linux see --> .

Hope this helps
