Hi all, I am fairly new to the Cisco world and am looking for a little help. I have a buddy that lent me 2 C2620s with WIC-1T cards. I bought a DTE to DCE cable and hooked it up. I built all the interfaces and yet can not get the serial link up. I did a very basic build with just the ip addresses and a clock rate on the DCE side. The interface goes from administratively down to just down after the no shutdown command. I did the exact same setup in packet tracer and it worked great.

Both units are at IOS 12.3. I did an interface diag and both WIC cards give back their information.

Besides getting my buddy to get me a couple of new WIC cards, what else should I be looking at while trouble shooting? I can post my running config later tonight if it helps.

Thanks,

Barry

The strangest thing happened this morning. I fired the routers up to capture the information and the serial link came up up. I was able to ping from one to the other as well. I did not have time to play too much this moning but I will program in the vtys and try telneting from one to the other tonight. Man, just too wierd.

Maybe the cable was loose and I nudged it just right at some point. Hopefully it will still all work when I get home tonight.
