It has been brought to my attention that a particular company i know is shipping Blackberry units to their customers and asserting that when the customer's get them, they will set them up remotely. Could someone inform me as to how the can do this as i am interested in being able to do this myself? Thanks.

BES 4.0 provides for wireless provisioning and wireless Enterprise Activation.

Will running BES 4.0 enable me to push a specific application out to the handhelds wirelessly?

We do this all the time. We enterprise active teh device one the user receives the handheld. The user simply goes to enterprise activation enters his e-mail address and a password we provide.

This is assuming you are run BES 4.0 and the user had the 4.0 firmware on his device.

Everything is synced wireless. Additionally you can also push applications..but who uses that feature.
