Hey all,

I'm working on a project right now where I would like to setup a failover for my metro-e connection.

I am setting up a DMZ for my dev servers, and they will always use the .253 gateway witch is a DSL connection.

Users that are not in the DMZ they will the .254 gateway.

It's all Cisco equipment layer 3 switches and Firewalls.

Is there any way for when the metro-e goes down that i could say redirect all traffic meant for the .254 gateway to goto the .253 gateway?

I understand that i might have to physically disconnect the .254 metro-e link but i'm just wondering if i am barking up the wrong tree here.

Bobby

Looking it up, it can monitor when it goes down but can it say everything going for the .254 now go to .253?

yep...when the next becomes availabe...the desired route populates in the routing table

Floating static routes...
