Hi all,

First post here.

I'm trying to figure out what shortcodes I need to be using and how. I'm trying to set up a few extensions that are linked to external (cell phone) numbers. We need to be able to dial the extension and ring to a specified external number and also the ability to transfer calls to that extension.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Twinning, unconditional call forwards or simple short codes would seem to do what you want.

I agree, I'm hoping someone else has done exactly what I'm trying to do and will be able to give a bit more info.

Thanks

In general people are much more helpful if you show some kind of initiative to help yourself

Like, what have you tried, what happened / why didn't work etc.

Just begging for answers for very simple things is likely to get soem rough responses

Take Care

Matt
I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

My apologies to all that I've irritated. I've tried several things:

short code: 279
feature: dial
number: 9Ncellnumber
line id: 1

The above is what seemed to be what I needed to do but after tests I was unable to get this working.
Only after all this a friend referred me here and suggested I post my question.

I do much more than just IT for the company I work for so I apologize for not appearing to help myself.

Thank you for that. I will try it shortly.

And you shouldnt need the 9 unless you are sending it to an ARS that also has a 9 entry.

If going directly to line then it would be

short code - 279
feature - dial
number - cellnumber
line id - 1

We've always had to dial 9 when dialing out. At least that's how I have to setup twinning

For twinning it would be needed yes if your default short code is 9N. But as you are creating a dedicated short code the 9 should not be needed.

If you already know how to do twinning why are you asking the question when the answer is twinning? :)

Hi dezner
U can do it.
Create a short code
Code= 760
feature= dial
Number= 0 or 9 N
Line id= 1

N= cell number which u want to dial
Line id = id of trunk

Thanky

SUCCESS!

Thank you all for your insight.

To answer amriddle01:

I've setup call forwarding with twinning so if someone isn't at their desk it will roll to their cell.

But in this case there is no avaya phone in the mix (strictly external). Plus I'm sort of a newbie at avaya systems.

You can just create a user and select twin when logged out, that way you get the benefit of being able to do call control i.e transfer the call while on the cell etc :)

Hold up, you mean there is a way to do things like transfer the call when the call has reached a cell phone? From the cell phone?

Yes, mobile call control, if activated you can press ** in call and it will give dial tone to allow transfer or dialling of shortcodes for conferencing or whatever :)
