Hi guys
We have recently decommissioned a HS21 Blade Server, and we are planning on re-using a couple of the left over spare Blades and SAS drives at another site with a Blade Center.
We have inserted the blade and 4 drives into the server - the blades themselves do not have any drives, they are all connected to SAS drive modules on the blade.
Now the problem is: the "new" blade was previously configured to be in a Blade Center with a fibre connected SAN array. When it is inserted, the AMM notes a IO mismatch - stating it is setup for fibre SAS controllers. Where is this changed, in the AMM or in the Blades BIOS?
Also, once I get past this hurdle, I suspect I will have to modify the existing zone configuration in the SAS control module to map the blade to the new drives, the activate the configuration? As long as I do not change the existing blade and module settings, I assume this will not cause any drive disconnection between the existing drives and blades?
Sorry about all the questions, but I seem to be going in circles with this, and I am being as careful as possible as this Blade center hosts live servers. I have had plenty of experience with virtualisation and ESX, but not so much with setting this gear up from scratch.
Any help would be appreciated.
cheers.
