With help from this forum, I have managed to set up Merlin Messaging 1.1 so I can program it from extension 68 while still have me old voicemail be the active AA.

My questions are as follows:

1) When I hit 68 I get the programming menu, how do I program an extension that I use to test the AA?

2) Is there a GUI software that will let me program the AA for version 1.1 or does this only work with later versions?

Thanks,

Dov

Assign a spare extension as an auto attendant.

When you start setting up an extension, listen to the choices, "To assign a mailbox press 1, to assign an announcement...."

No GUI for that one.

You can look at a few things with the Serial Port.

Merlinman yes that will let me assign an AA to an extension, but how do I call that extension if my system is currently using a different voicemail system as the active AA?

Put that extension into a different cover group from your exsiting voice mail (say, group 29 instead of 30), and have your messaging be the receiver for that group.

TTT,

What do you mean by "have your messaging be the receiver for that group"

Thanks,

Dov

OK, here is a cut-n-paste of the programming procedure that I follow to initialy set up a Merlin Messaging on a Magix. What you are doing is creating a calling group, making it linear in its hunting pattern, telling the Magix that there is a Voice Mail connected to the ports, and that when phones in a particular Coverage Group ring X number of times, the call should be sent to the calling group for the Voice Mail. So, in this example, you would substitute your Merlin Messaging calling group where you see 770, and your test voice mail coverage group where you see 30.
