I just can never quite get the merlin mail R2 and belows to work quite right with AA delayed answer. Can someone give me a step by step breakdown on thi setup? The manuals make some assumtions that I understand Lucent greek and am a mind reader! Thanks again! You guys always save me lots of research time!

Take an unused port/extenion, w/out a mailbox, assign lines to extension, set to delayed ring, assign call coverage to VM calling group. That is the easiest way I know of. There are many other types of setups also.

Also, make the extension the principle owner of the lines to answer.

If the lines are in pools, which is typical for most Legend systems, you can't assign principal owner for the lines. Avaya recommends using a calling group with no members, and using time-based overflow to send calls to the voice mail calling group. In the Voice Mail, you need to create a mailbox with the same extension number of the delayed calling group, and assign it as an auto-attendant (done through class of service setting on the older Merlin Mails).

Here is a cut-n-paste of a job aid that I use when initially setting up Merlin Messaging, that should apply to the Merlin Mail also:

I dont have a manual on MerMail nearby, so I don't have the correct COS for the AA mailbox.

For AA#1 COS should be 15, 16 for 2, 17 for 3 and 18 for 4.

On MLM 007, AA1 COS is 15, AA2 COS is 16 and AA3 COS is 17. At least on mine. I have been wrong, surprised, fooled... before ;)
