I want to set a web server up behind my router. My subnet is 192.168.1.xxx, I am assuming I need to go into my router config and do some port forwarding and some other things, but I am not sure what I need to do. Any help is appreciated.

Yes, you will want to forward ports 80 and 443.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

What type of ISP connection do you have?

Usually there is a NAT translation on the router to point your external IP address to the appropriate inside IP address.

You should be able to additionally identify the protocols (TCP, etc) and port numbers on the router.

You should be very careful if you have never done this before. Opening your server to the web should only be done if you have taken precautions with your server (security, patches, etc), your firewall, etc.

I see your new here, so welcome. First off, let me help with good posting. You should try and start off with doing a little research on something like Next, if you haven't found the answer, come here and start giving as much information about your setup as possible without going crazy. How many servers, how many clients, what are the operating systems. What kind of router are you talking about. Now we know you want to setup a web server behind your router, but what kind of web server. You going to be hosting a web site, are you going to use it for ftp, things like that. Good luck.
