I need to set-up a VPN. I also need to provide connection from my office site via a 256 leased line to the other side. Currently I have two seperate networks in my office with only one network connected to the internet connection. Can I use a switch to connect the two networks as a first step towards connectivity, since the required network is not on the internet connection?

Well, these networks probably have different IP addresses, so you are going to need a router, not a switch. If the addresses are on the same subnet, then a switch will work fine. NOTE: you do not HAVE to have internet access on the other network to be able to access resources on that network. If you setup your VPN so that you connect to the network that has internet access, and the two networks can talk to one another, then internet access on the other network is optional. OSes (say that fast three times!) are a big concern too. Did you know that two Win2000 professional machines can have a VPN connection between each other? Check it out here: good luck >:):O>
