Setting up a synch with Dell AXIM

I recently lost all data on my AXIM when both batteries went dead. Now that I have replaced the batteries, I am having a problem. I have RESTORED all the data, but when I try to set up the synch, it connects, then searches for changes, and then it barely gets going when it aborts with s synchronization error then says it is not connected. I have unplugged the USB and reinstalled it and it has not helped. I just downloaded the latest ActiveSynch and installed it with the same results.

Any ideas folks?
