I have a friend with a Win2k system and has a LAN that connects 6 of his own computers scattered about his room and his neibours.
I live too far away to be part of that LAN but with VPN could I connect to his LAN??
How would we set it up On his Win2K server system and how would i connect to it.
He would not be perminantly on the net so if i were to ask him for his ip address each time would i be still able to connect to his LAN when he is on at the same time as me??
Any help is much appriciated
Thanx

For info on the subject visit the Win2K server documentation site
If you are running Win98 you will need to install a second dialup adapter with VPN support, install Microsoft VPN adapter and set up a DUN entry. The down side is that without a fixed IP address, you will have to edit the DUN each time to point it at the new IP address. Still, it should work OK.

You should check out
for $35/yr... it maps a domain name to a dynamic ip address so everytime your friend goes online, his new ip address is mapped to the the domain name... you put the domain name in for the Microsoft VPN Adapter and you never have to worry about it!

I use it... it works great!
