Hi all,

Before you lynch me, I know that this may not be the right place to post this. But, I am coding an Intranet site for my company, and would like to have a chat room and a couple newsgroups. I am coding in DHTML and Java (the two languages I know). The problem is two fold.

1. The network is NT but is nothing more than a collection of hard drives, so I would need to set up a Virtual Server on the hard drive that the site will be stored. What is the best method and approach to resolving this problem. I am considering Tomcat. Is this a good choice?

2. I am an Java2 Application programmer, and have very little knowledge about coding for Networks. I do have the J2EE API installed on my system but have never had a reason to use it up until now. I need a little understanding about how networks operate and how they relate to each workstation logged on to the network.

Any help or direction will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
