Setting up a new e7 ws5a

Just purchased two new ws5a with e7. I am brand new to POS and need help getting started. Looks like it wants to locate a server name and IP. do I need to have a server/controller connected to my two POS machines or can I operate without it. When I continue without choosing a server, I get a pop up asking for a mscrCAL code. Not sure where I'm supposed to get that. I have the e7 license USBs for each machine. Any help for this newbie would be much appreciated.
