setting up a network printer

What do I need to do to set up a network printer so that I can print from my AIX server. I don't have a printer in the computer room, and I wouldn't want to walk that far to get a printout. There must be someway to set up a network printer.

Take a look at these threads:

thread52-76510 -- gives the smitty steps to create a remote printer.

thread52-107436 -- gives some troubleshooting tips (like having the printer IP address listed in one of the /etc files) and I believe some links to some IBM doc on printers.

thread52-110286 and thread52-129394 -- more links (may be redundant).

As you can see, aixqueen is the printing specialist. I used the info she has in the first thread listed here to set up my printers. It works.

Aixqueen, have you considered writing an FAQ about printing?
