Setting up a FTP server on Win 2K Pro w/ IIS behind a DSL modem

I am in the proces of setting up my ftp site on my home pc, which is running Win 2K Pro. I connect to the Internet with a DSL modem that uses a public IP Address. The NIC which this is attached to is a private IP Address (10.100.x.x). How am I going to access my pc remotely when my IP Address is private? Does my modem route to my PC somehow? How come I can't logon to my PC anonymously?
