Setting up a CD player to On-Hold Port

Our old tape recorder used for our On-Hold music that was plugged into the On-Hold Music port finally died, and we'd like to switch over to a more modern setup of plugging in a standard CD player into the on-hold port and just having it on repeat.

The problem is that our old setup had the cable running from the on-hold port to a converter that switched it into an RCA plug, which then ran into the tape player. The CD player we have has a mini-stereo jack, and an RCA-to-stereo converter didn't do anything.

Any help would be most appreciated.

What is the brand of the cd player, I have found that Audiovox for some reason doesn't seem to work through the mini-stereo jack.

It's one of those small portable Audiophase models.

Is it a stereo headphone output? Sometimes that will work, if there is enough power to drive the MOH input. Most times you need a 1 Watt amp. That might have been the "converter" you talked about! Also check the connections to see if the audio might be shorting to ground with the stereo to mono cable you're using! Also make sure the CD player "repeat all" doesn't shut down after it repeats. Alot of them do. They are not meant to play 24 hrs. a day! You might want to invest in a digital MOH player. Good Luck!
