Setting up a 16 hour work day ....

For some reason, I am having some major difficulties in setting up a 16 hour work day and having it applied to each month. I have a schedule already in place, but when I tried to change the working times from 8 hours to 16 hours, I either get errors like "Monday does not show valid working times..." or the change isn't reflected in the calculation for the Start Date vs. Finish Date columns.

Background: We've had to increase our work resources to help expedite our shipment of product. I had the schedule based on an 8 hour shift, but we are now working (2) 8 hours shifts... 6:00-2:30, then 2:30-11:00. I feel like I have to somehow setup a new schedule and re-insert (copy) the tasks from the old schedule to the new one.

Ultimately my questions are:
What is the best way to set up a 2 shift working day?
Can I modify my existing 8 hour schedule?
Do I need to start a new schedule?
Can all of this be done using the walk-through prompt when starting a new project?

FYI, I've tried looking this information up in the Project Bible, and one of the Project Dummies book, and can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be great. Thx...

A couple of questions:

1. Are resources generally working a double-shift ... or are some working first-8hr-shift, the others working second-8hr-shift?

2. If working 8hr shifts (not double shifts) then are the resources permanently on shift1 (or shift2); or do they work a couple of weeks on shift1 and then a couple of weeks on shift2 and then ... well, you get the idea.

3. Not so much a question as an observation: project is designed for projects not process scheduling. Although you can force it to do process scheduling, you will encounter some pain. It can be done but ... give me the name of your favourite alcohol refreshment, I would like to buy shares before they go up! Let me know the answers to the first couple of questions and we'll work from there.
