Can someone give me a brief explanation how to set one of these sets up? I got the 1120e's working but in terms of setting up a 2008 set, I'm not sure where to even get started.

Also, is there a way to get a command list/command list help while logged into the console? (ie. ld 20, then get a list of possible commands at REQ: TYPE: etc..)

Ld20
REQ: NEW
TYPE: 2008
TN: L S C U (opt 11 L U)

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Just curious though, I get the availible digital TN's from LUVU and enter it in the TN section.

What do I have to do on the actual handset when I plug it in? Because the 1120's give me the option to enter the TN's, if I recall correctly, the 2008s dont.

You'll probably have to punch down cable pairs (from your TN to feeder cable, then in your idf from your feeder cable to your jack #)

Yes, in LD20, at req: type in luvu and then at the type: enter 2000 and ret. It'll show you all digital unused TN's, pick one, complete the programming or find another 2008 and copy it, but you'll have to cross connect it thru!

Here is a sample 2008, this one has Handsfree programmed, but not all 2008 have handsfree. 2008 phones are digital sets, not IP sets and as PBXN says you will have to cross connect the TN to the staion cables and then to the jack. Also some of these values may not be consistent with your PBX settings

best way to learn a new set is to default one,, that shows you the default class marks with no keys assigned.. in his expample, he has a 2008 display (tdd).. just look up the cls marks ending in a (allow), that's 80 percent of making a set work..

tdm sets have to be connected to the tn.. 1120's ip to the tn..

Thanks again for the fast replies.

I'm curious how the system will know that I'm connecting a new system.

As of now, all the lines should be connected directly to the PBX already. So pretend I used the "Out" command to a line/extension. The 2008 set would turn off. How would I go and reset it up. All the wiring should be done.

I originally thought the TN was assigned to the actual phone/network line on the patch panel.

What do you guys mean by cross-connecting?

when you use OUT, you wipe away that sets programming. So, you outted that set and yes, it is off. Follow the steps as we've shown you to rebuild it, I hope you know the TN otherwise you'll have to ID that set back to your frame. Cross COnnect is all of those confusing little wires, they run in pairs to connect a phone to the switch etc

What is your cabling environment currently like? Do you have all of your TN's on patch panels, then you run a patch cable from TN side to jack/feeder side?
If you outed a working phone, then rebuilt it, minus double checking to see if its idle or disabled, you really shouldn';t have to do anything else except maybe a signalling test
