We've got a printer in a remote office and users tell me that if tray one is empty, it uses tray 3, if that's empty it uses tray 2. They want the order to go 1, 2, 3 instead. I know very little about these printers, is there a way to change the "order". Or even to select the tray when sending a job to the printer? I don't have access to the hardware as it's in a remote office, but if necessary I could get a user to look at a certain hardware setting if necessary.

any help would be appreciated

The tray can be selected in the print driver.
You cant change the order of selection but you can change the trays.
If tray 1 is letter-landscape and it goes empty, the 2045 will look for the next letter-landscape tray and use it, if it is tray 3 then tray 3 will be selected. When it cant find another letter landscape it will look for letter-portrait. So ask the users to change the trays so that they reflect these rules. In other words, change tray 2 to be like tray 1.
