Is it possible to set the 'reply to' address for a user in Active Directory in the same way that you can in Outlook Express?

Eg when the email arrives you can tell its from a@b.com but when you click reply it automatically fills in c@d.com

Thanks very much

Ed

that is on sender side, exchnage can only have one primary smtp address but users can choose "from" before sending.I belive this has to be done manually on client side before sending email...consider using
Send on Behalf of
or
Send As

All the best!

Yes, you can set the "reply to" email address in AD for a user with multiple SMTP addresses.
Open AD Users and Computers, double-click user > Email Addresses > click SMTP Address you wish to make a "reply to" address > click Set As Primary > OK.

yeah...and that is again 1 primary SMTP address used as default reply address...

Correct, you can set only one address as primary.

I think he was after:
"Eg when the email arrives you can tell its from a@b.com but when you click reply it automatically fills in c@d.com"

if I am reading this correctly...1st post the way to go...
right emozley?

lebisol, your method cannot achive this : "when you click reply it automatically fills in c@d.com."
What must be done in AD is this: add SMTP for a@b.com and c@d.com and set c@d.com as primary. In this case you are able to receive a@b.com and send as c@d.com automatically.
Just like in outlook Express.

hello N0ktar,
don't get me wrong...no attack here I am just wondering if I am been doing this all wrong....[neutral]

we are talking about responding to someone who sent you/me an email. As a responder by default your/mine email will go out branded a user@PrimarySMTP.com Unless I manually choose 'Behalf' of or 'Send As' or even wrose allow relay and enter 'user@any_sending_domain.com' t
The only way arround it that I know of is setting up a secondary smtp address and then giving it away as your 'primary email'....so you can receive user@some.com but exchange by default will ALWAYS repond from: user@primarySMTP.com UNLESS user manually changes it! agreed!
therefor, if I send an email for the first time then my recipent will always see from: user@primarySMTP.com and when they hit reply it return to me as such...again, unless I manually specifed something different in outlook or used on of the techinques above.
I have yet to see e2k have AI to process logic of:
>I am responding to user@some.com so this time please send it as from:user@domain2.com<

If I am wrong I want my $ back for the book ;-)
All the best!

You are right, there is no AI in exchnage :) If what is being asked is to autmatically match reply address based on receiving address than that's not possible. I was under impression the question was on how to have two different email addresses where one can be used to send and a different one to receive.
Let's say I am Mike and mike@domain.com works fine when people email to me but when I reply I want everyone to see support@domain2.com. I guess the important thing is to be the owner of both domains.

hi N0ktar
"be the owner of both domains"
thank you...i guess I ran out of ways to explain it.
on a good note I get to keep the book lol
thanks for sharing,
All the best!
