Does anyone know how to turn on the SMART drive feature in the bios? I've been running Spin Rite for a disk problem, and it always says it's turning on the feature. Apparently, the bios is turning it off again. The bios does know how to respond. It warned me a couple of times about imminent failure after Spin Rite turned it on.

It should be a simple enable/disable S.M.A.R.T feature in the bios, save when exiting.

I believe Spinrite is turning the feature on at the drive level not the BIOS level. BIOS would not turn-off such a feature on the hard drive itself.

If after enabling SMART "detection" in BIOS and you are being warned of imminent failure, the drive may be bad.

I suggest downloading the manufacture's hard drive diagnostic tool and using it to test the drive in question. The manufacture's tool will usually test SMART capability as well.
