Scenario:

SP2010, we have created a view from a list and the list was inheriting permissions from the parent. We were hoping to set permissions on the view so that only a certain subset of folks could actually see the view. Based on my google searching, this is easier said than done. Has anyone done this or have suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Permissions are set at the site level, list level, or item level.

Sounds like you need to be setting item level permissions.

If you only want people to see certain items, you would update the permissions on those items accordingly.

This can be done with an out of the box SharePoint Designer Workflow.
