Setting (not resetting) passwords

We just had a change in personnel, and we want to reset our Norstar passwords for security reasons. I have reset the sys coordinator and operator passwords, using the straightforward procedure found elsewhere in this Forum.

My question is, how do I set them to something other than the default?

Also related to passwords, is the General Delivery mailbox password always 0000? Or does it follow one of the other passwords? Or can its password be changed the same way any other mailbox password can be changed? I don't currently know the GD password (and can't easily find it ... don't ask!) so I want to reset it and change it to something I can remember.

You said you know how to default them......
(three digit DN system)
Do a F981 on the System Coordinator's Mailbox(102) and the General Delivery Mailbox (100), or any mailbox for that matter to change the passwords from default 0000.
Remember choose [OTHR] and then at the LOG prompt enter the MB# and "default password" 1020000 for the SCMB, 1000000 for the GDMB or for a different extension owner's MB XXX0000.

For resetting the unknown GD and then changing the General Delivery Mail Box password. Do this:
F983 and LOG In
Select [MB]
Select [CHANGE] Enter [100]
Select [Password]
Select [Reset]

Then do a F981 to change the GD password as stated above.

Yes, it's too easy to reset them using F985! If someone has the basic information on how to default boxes or reinstall the entire VM system harm can be done. Too bad there isn't some sort of challenge with an encrypted response before defaulting them. But again if that were the case many would be paying Nortel to reset them as people do with "Thank you sir may i have another!" Avaya. I appreciate it being widely available since one of the most common questions has got to be how do I reset password. Remember to do a Programming Backup to protect yourself a bit. (F983, LOG IN then 22-backup, 33-restore)
