Have a BCM which is on a customer network. Have set next hop router under Net Link Manager.

When you load the BCM Monitor, the next hop setting shows N/A

The system has been rebooted and all the settings checked.

Is there a reason why this info is not showing?

The software on the BCM400 is 3.7

Thanks

Don't do it during the day as the system will reboot and be down for about 10 min.

Thanks for the reply. Already tried that.

When I go into Network wizard, the information is already there. It has the IP address of both Lan1 and Lan2 and the next hop.

It is not showing up when you launch the BCM Monitor. The reason I need to get this functioning, the BCM is backed up across their network, and at the moment it cannot see the network drive.

Would I be able to put in a static route from Lan1 idicating where the network drive is or would this cause a problem.

Thanks

Try plugging into the other LAN connector.

Also check under main menu IP Telephony (PUBLISHED ADDRESS) is it set to LAN 1 or LAN 2

Will check that Ace and update you tomorrow.

At present, they only have connectivity to Lan1, I am trying to sort this out remotely for them.

You should be able to see if the PUBLISHED ADDRESS is LAN 1 remotely.

The only time I have seen this is when the LAN I'm connecting though is not on the Published Address.

Try this - disconnect the LAN cable and reboot the BCM. After it's up, plug the cable back in. I've seen this before where the routing and remote access service will stop for some reason. Doing what I mentioned above may be a temporary fix, or at least help with diagnosis.

Thanks Biv,

The customer has disconnected their lan cable so I can dial in tonight.

I will go through the wizard again and see if this makes any difference.

Will update later

If your dialing in, they don't need to disconnect the Lan. I maintained 60 BCM's and I could login though the LAN or I could do dialup.

The reason why I requested they disconnect their lan is to ensure no 'errors' occur.

Anyhow, I have dialled in, gone through the network update wizard, ensured the settings are all in place and clicked 'Apply'

After 10 minutes, dialled back into system, the next hop seting appears in Net Link Manager but still does not show on the monitor tab.

I am stumped now. They had a new HDD a month ago becuase of issues on their network, and we have manually retyped everything and locked down the system.

Don't use the wizards, use UM and look at IP Telephony and the resources.

Ace,

I have already dialled in and looked in UM, the settings are all in there. It is just not populating in BCM Monitor. The monitor is not seeing the next hop route.

Would it work if I put in a static route for their server under the Lan1 settings?

I don't see your responce to my question of what is the published Address, if the published Address is set to LAN 2 and you are using LAN 1 to run BCM Monitor it won't show Netx Hop.

Sorry Ace,

The published IP address is set to Lan1

On all other systems we maintain, when we activate the monitor remotely they show the next hop. It is only this one specific site that does not.

Sorry I can't help, but does everything work OK other than not being able to see the next hop in BCM Monitor?
