Hi folk
I am an XP user having trouble trying to help an elderly absolute beginner come to terms with his Windows 7 machine. I am lost. I cannot make heads or tails of Windows 7, and there are no (visible) menu options to give me a chance. However, the main problem is this:

My friend really only wants to be able to use Google (he has no literary ambitions for example :). I have managed to get Google up and set it to be homepage in his browser (Firefox) in the same way I would using IE8 on XP. Firefox paid no attention. It still swans off to Yahoo!

Would someone please tell me - blow by blow, please, 'cos I don't know where I am going - how I can solve my friend's problem.

Thanks

Not exactly what you asked, but:

If Firefox is the default browser, just make a new shortcut with the commandline:

and call the shortcut Google, click OK. You can drag a copy to the start menu or the launch bar.

Here's the usual way to change the Homepage in Firefox

(Firefox 3.6 can hide its menu. Press <Alt> to reveal it.)

Menu, Tools, Options, General tab, Home page, enter

click OK

Works for me!
