I am specifying three fonts in font-family as I don't know whether people will have the first or even the second font. However, because the fonts are quite different from each other, I need to have a font-size for the first font (16pt) that is different from the font-size for the second font (20pt) because each needs a different font-size to look right.

Is there any way of associating a specific font-size with each of the fonts listed in font-family so that whichever one is actually used will get the right size for that font?

Nope, not really. You should use similar fonts as replacement fonts and their sizes should not be that different. If you use regular, web-safe fonts, the difference in size is not noticeable, so maybe you will need to rethink about whatever font file you're using that does not really fit.

Thanks for your response. I just came across the font aspect value . What about using it and putting that into font-size-adjust: ? If that would work, how could I find the aspect value of the particular, and in one case not common, fonts?

Yup, that sounds exactly what you need, howver it is a CSS3 property, so I wouldn't expect much support for it just yet.
