Is there a way to set the file association so that the *.dwg file will be associated with AutoCAD in such a way that it will start even if Autocad is not on the local machine, but on a server?

I have several *.dwg files. I have uploaded them to a Picture library, but because I don't have Autocad on my system, I can only see the file with the default file icon and the name. I cannot double click it and have Autocad start with the relevant drawing, even if Autocad itself is in my Applications folder on my main server. Is there a way to get this done?

I would also like to be able to show an Adobe PDF icon for PDF files in my document libraries - again, it is just the name with the default file icon that is displayed.

Not sure about the autocad stuff but do a search for adobe sharepoint ifilter. That should be your answer.

Will this filter work for WSS or only for SPS?
