I should know this already, because I've used virtual hosting from other companies for years, but I'm trying to set a domain to point to my Linux ip address.

I've already got my router and linux box set up where if you key in (my internet ip address) it brings up my home page. Now here's my question:

I use Nameit or Aitdomains to register my domains. The domains you setup or register ask only for nameserver info. For example ns0.domainname.com, ns1.domainname.com. I sent a support ticket to aitdomains and they registered a name server under my domain name (ns0.mydomain.com) and they set it up to my ip address. I know that it took because they have an web interface that shows that information and because it no longer links to my other hosted website, but now it just says this page cannot be displayed. Is there something else that has to be done? I want to get into virtual hosts also, but first I need to get the first domain or nameserver to go to my computer.

I'm assuming that you've leased this new domain name from one of the domain name registrars and that you've given that registrar the names and IP addresses of the two name servers in question.

From there, it's just a matter of adding an "A" record into the DNS server's zone record for your domain. Want the best answers? Ask the best questions: TANSTAAFL!
