Setting DISPLAY for X11 forwarding

I have an AIX rs6000 that is giving me trouble. It seems that no matter what I do ssh sessions continue to set the DISPLAY variable to :0.0, not allowing me to forward anything from that machine to remote hosts. Everything is correct in my sshd_config and ssh_config files and I don't understand what may be setting the var wrong.

Any ideas? I would be greatful for anything at this point

Did you have a try on this command "xhost +hostname(or IP)"?

then use "export DISPLAY=hostname:0.0"
