In my new job, the only version of Acrobat is back at #4, and I today I needed ro make a few PDFs from Illustrator. I prefer using the two-step process of first printing to postscript file and then opening it in Distiller to create the PDF. However, I seem to keep losing the postscript files and end up having to search the hard drive for them. Using Distiller as my printer when printing to file, I am prompted for a name for the postscript file, but not for a destination folder. I have looked at the Distiller properties (under Start>Settings>Printers) but cannot see anywhere to specify the destination folder. How is it done in Distiller 4?

This isn't exactly an answer to your question, but what happens if you type a destination before the file name? For example, create a folder called PS on your C drive, and then type the following when prompted for a file name:

C:\PS\file.pdf

I haven't used Illustrator, and I haven't used Acrobat 4 for a while, so I don't know the answer to your actual question.

That's not a bad idea, Rick! I will try it next time. Thanks! I have never used Distiller 4 (used 3 and 5) so it's all a bit different.
