Setting Default Margin

I have a HP DeskJet 5500 and am running Windows XP.
When I try to print from TurboTax, the bottom line does not print. It appears that the bottom margin is too large.
As far as I can tell, one cannot set margins from TurboTax. Also, to my surprise, I have not found a place in the printer's properties or preferences (in control panel) where I can set margins. How can this be done?

Since TurboTax does a lot of raster-based stuff (recreating filled-in forms and so forth), I would think that something is amiss.

I would check:

1) TurboTax is using the correct printer and driver
2) TurboTax knows what paper size you are using (A4 is slightly larger than Letter, for example)
3) Try changing your print processor (Right-click printer, Advanced Tab, Print Processor... change it to RAW if it isn't already)

Already set to RAW

I think that what is needed is a smaller top or bottom margin but I do not see where to change them.

I think that what you may be running into is a limitation in the 5550 itself.

Since it is an inkjet, it needs to keep a hold of the paper at the bottom to hold it in place while printing. It's not possible to have the printer print all the way to the edge of the bottom of the paper, for example.

However....

You may look and see if there is a "Fit to page" option in your print dialogue, which would resize the entire page (make it 98% or whatever) so that everything still fits on the page.

Fit to Page set at 97% does get everything on the page. However the IRS is very sticky about the formating of computer generated returns- particularly about form 1040 and they might object to the rather large margin. What is very curious is that I did not have this problem last year.
