When setting Page Layout -> Custom Margins in MSW07 I can't seem to get some agreement between the bottom of the test margin and the top of the footer (same problem with top of text margin and bottom of header). Images and captions regularly overwrite the footer (header).

Can someone shed some light on this?

Thanks

I don't think I have ever seen document body overwriting headers or footers (except when contained within other elements that are not in-line with text). Can you give a little more detail of what you are seeing - where your margins are, and where the text is starting/finishing.

Enjoy,
Tony

If I have a frame which contains an image and a caption, and I format the frame to "Vertical -> Bottom (relative to) Margin" the frame covers the top lines of the footer.

Text doesn't.

Custom margin settings Bottom 4.3 cm, Footer 2.5 cm.

let me say, first of all, that I don't know much about Frames, so treat me kindly :). ActiveX Frames have an option to position vertically relative to the Bottom Margin (and that seems to mean physical page margin); is that what you have?

Enjoy,
Tony

Hi Tony

I wouldn't know if MSW07 Frames are ActiveX frames or not.

Sorry

One of the troubles with Word is that there are sometimes several things with the same name, and it is important to know which one one is dealing with.

1. How did you insert the Frame?
2. How do you invoke the dialog where you set the alignment?
2. What is the title on the Dialog where you set the alignment?

Enjoy,
Tony

Hi Tony

I have moved the 'Insert Frame' icon to the shortcut menu at the top of the Word Window.

I right-click on the Frame and I get a dialog called 'Frame'.

Hope that helps.

In that case, it is not ActiveX. Assuming you have set vertical positioning relative to Margin, the top of it will be positioned relative to the top margin, and the positioning of the bottom of it, relative to the bottom margin, will depend on page size and Frame height as well as margins. If the height is set to 'auto' or 'at least', you will not have precise control over the bottom at all - and if the width is set to auto, I suspect factors like the printer driver could cause slight movements depending on other objects on the page.

Enjoy,
Tony

Hi Tony

That's probably it. I tend to use auto width and height.

I'll whinge again, no doubt [wink], if this doesn't solve the problem. If I don't come back on this then all is well [pipe].

Thanks
