The programming is somewhat *different*.
Currently, I have 6 DID. Each DID rings to a hunt group.
On the phones itself, there is a call appearance for each hunt group.
It's setup so that any of 8 phones can pick up each DID .

I currently have a FWD button - but the call forward button only serves for the direct extension.

How could I setup a FWD button so it takes the DID and forwards to a # versus going to the hunt group, with the ability for a end user to do this daily..

You can create a hot desk phantom user that you can log into and set a forward to the hunt group or to any other destination.
hmmm.. not sure if that will work exactly. Works with a Merlin and I may have my thinking incorrect regarding a phantom and forwarding.

You can create a voicemail mail action that will send to a choice of destination based on a button press.
Lots of examples posted in this forum.

You would need to take the hunt group out of service (or night service) with a different sequential hunt group containing a user that can forward (including hunt group calls) to the desired number. You could use a real user, or a phantom user with hotdesking.

yeah that hunt group forward is still messy and leaves a long trail to follow.
It does work well and gives you a lighted one button control.
