Hi All;

I have an external HD housed in a usb casing. I would like to set the drive letter for the drive so that every time I plug it into my pc it will always have the same letter (e.g. Z:). I will choose a letter I am sure will never get used.

Is this possible?

Thank you for any and all help!

Hey all;

I was surprised to find out that the standard method of using the disk management tools allows you to set the drive letter and it does retain it when you reconnect the device.

Worked on Windows XP Pro.

Cheers;
