Hi all,

I am trying to set the default ringtone for 9641GS phones to the classic tones instead of defaulting to the Rich ringers. I have the following configured in my 46xxsettings.txt file.
Code:
SET DEFAULTRING 1
which as far as I can tell from the administration documentation and the other forum thread I read about this issue should set the ringer to the Classic #1. But for whatever reason my phone is not doing this. Phones are running H.323 6.6.6 and the IPO is running 10.1.0.1.

Any ideas into what I could be doing wrong?

How come it would be in the H.323 firmware administration guide if it were only for SIP?

Have you tried to set via the phone to see if it works at all.

Try that first to see if the phone can do it

Yes if I set the tone on each phone manually and individually it works fine, persists reboots, etc. But no matter what the 46xxsettings file says it doesn’t change.

Hi,

Firstly, I would be using 46xxspecials, not 46xxsettings. I always let 46xxsettings auto-generate from the IPO.

SET DEFAULTRING 1 could be just 'Cheerful', the first on the rich ringtone list.

Have you tried SET DEFAULTRING 7 which could link to the first of the 'Classic' ringtones?

Thanks, Tim

Yes I’ve tried 7 and it still doesn’t change from Cheerful.

Try this

Ok from what I have read you need to clear the phone first.
Then on reboot of the phone it will then look to the new settings

Still no dice. I saw that in the thread I read originally but no luck on a default clear. I’m updating the system to 10.1 SP8 and updating the phone firmware now to see if that helps.

Well I figured it out. I had to recreate the user and then the phone picked up the setting correctly. Then I manually set the ringtone once to test and it would not pull the value from the 46xx file. I guess there is a user value that is set when you manually configure the ringtone on the phone. Re-creating the user from scratch blanks out the value and allows the phone to define the setting based on the 46xx file.

@tylamb19 Have a pink star for posting the result/outcome!

Thanks, Tim
