Hi,

I just recently upgraded to the Partner ACS R6 with a 308EC module and 5 slot carrier from a Partner 206/206E system.

I have 7 current lines and I'd like to bring 6 of the 7 on to my new phone system. I have a problem, though. 1 line is currently a dedicated line for a couple of indivduals in our service department. I do not have the voice mail system yet (I will purchase that shortly) so I can't do an automated attendant and route the call that way. They enjoy using their analog portable phone. I do have a Lucent portable system phone (905), but I'd prefer not to use it.

Here is my question (simply stated):
Is there a way I can give them the portable phone they already have (analog) and have that phone *only* ring when a call comes in on line 5 (their dedicated line) as well as allow other office workers to answer line 5 on their MLS-12Ds? Also, their portable phone has a caller ID display on it, will ACS pass the caller ID info to a non-system phone?

Thanks for the help.

Yes, go into system programming then #301 and remove the lines you don't want on that ext. Not sure if you will get id it might need the second pair.

Well, the caller id is a deal buster. The phone must have caller ID on it. I was thinking, could I wire the analog into the phone line before the phone system if the caller ID doesn't display?

Something like this:
(Phone line from Wall) ----> Analog Phone ----> Partner System (Line 5)

try to set the rest of the lines to 'no ring' on those portable extensions and set line 5 to 'no ring' on other partner phones but 'immd. ring' on the portable extensions...

SET CRTL ALT DEL = #728

You can connect the portable phone to the line ahead of the Partner system, so it will receive Caller ID, but there will be no privacy or in-use line indication for the Partner phone users on that line. If someone answers the call on a Partner phone, there is no way to transfer the call to the cordless. If they simply put the line on hold and holler to the tech guys to pick it up, it will remain on hold at least until the end of the call, if not forever (depending on the CO serving you). Also, no good if you have music on hold! A Transtalk is around $1000, but I don't really recommend them because of cost and general unsuitability.

Ok, thanks for the advice. Well, fortunatly I do have a Lucent 905 portable phone (that is a system phone). I imagine I can program it to only ring on line 5. The problem I have seems to be that the 905 has only a 1 line LCD and only displays the number. Is there a programmable button I can use to switch between name/number on that phone?

I beleive that feature 16 is the name toggle. Has to be put on a lighted button. When the light is on, the name is displayed, if you press the name button again (light off) the number is displayed.

Keep the analog phone hooked in to the system and get a cheap caller I.D box and put ahead of the system on line 5 and patch it thru to the to the service department. It will also double as a power failure port.
