Set up users, schedule reports

I am new to CE. I have cr9 advanced, with CE8.5 Standard. I have just begun to set up the server and I have successfully gotten to the point of having and administrator user setup and a few folders with reports. I am having trouble getting the reports to schedule, although I can preview them. I am getting a 'bad logon info' message. I also don't have the foggiest idea of how to add new users. Is there any good documentation out there on this? I have referred to the users manual and looked around on this forum. I found a reference to a crystal decisions csp sample zip; do I have to set up csp pages in order to add users?
I was hoping to be able to set up a few user accounts for various people in my company so they can look at past instances of scheduled reports.
Fairly Lost, hoping for some direction.
Thanks!

I found an answer to the first part of my question: how to schedule the reports.
I was looking through the crystal decisions document database and found a document called 'tactical guide to understanding and installing crystal web reporting'. Page 8 of this guide explains how to set up a URL so that you can at least create links to reports that you may have imported into Crystal Enterprise, a nice simple solution that allows you to store the database logon info with the report rather than having to pass it. I followed the instructions and tried to pull the report as 'guest', but received a logon error indicating I did not have refresh rights. I went into CE as admin, granted refresh rights to the group everyone and, voila, I was able to pull up the report via the url I had made.
After that, it occured to me that the original vague logon error I was getting during scheduling might have been related, so I retried scheduling a report that I had refresh rights to and again - success!
Ok, so I'm feeling pretty cocky, but I'm definitely still in the dark about whether the fancier side of this dream can only happen via csp (eg: creating user id's for people to logon to this system which directs them to a folder where they have reports which they can run or schedule). Is there some 'built-in' way of doing this?
Thanks!

A word of caution here. CR9 is NOT compatible with CE 8.5

You will need to create your reports in a version of CR lower than 9.

As for your 'fancy dream'

Since you are using 8.5 Standard you can not create users. You only have the Admin and Guest accounts available. I don't hink you would get around this with CSP either.

To deal with individual users you would need 8.5 Pro. There are some other 'Web based' alternatives listed on Ken Hamady's site ( that might be worth a look.

Hmmm. I have had no trouble importing my cr9 reports into Crystal Enterprise and viewing via url or within the crystal ent. admin console, so when you say
"You will need to create your reports in a version of CR lower than 9."
I do not understand. I know I can't open cr9 reports in a lower version of crystal reports, but crystal enterprise accepts them just fine. So far, anyway.

I know 8.5 Pro offers this multi-user flexibility, but I sure don't want to upgrade right now. I will try to fiddle around with csp or other options first.
Thanks for the info.

You are sooo correct! What a doofus I am! Yes, I am on CE9, which I guess is a good thing to know.
