Hello,

For whatever reason I cannot get our backups to run. I keep getting Failed to initiate backup. Unable to access SFTP server. Please ensure the username and password are correct.

I'm using freeFTPd running on Windows Server 2003 but we want to move it to Server 2008. Not sure if that's an issue? For now my Backup Device name is WS1_Array, I have the IP address of the 2008 server and then \CUCM as the path to the folder, and the user name and password of the user I created on freeFTPd. When I try and run this same set up on the 2008 server it gives me that error I mentioned at the top. Am I missing something? Do I need the user name set somewhere else? Does the Backup Device name need to be the same as something? The FTP service is running. Thanks

Unless you have FreeFTPD setup with a local account, when you ctrl-alt-del the server, it basically shuts down the service. You will then get the error message you are receiving.

Okay, even though I have a server admin running the FreeFTPd I have to have a local account on the server and that local account username and password is the same one I enter in FreeFTPd and CUCM? Thanks

it needs to run as a service on the windows server. Otherwise if you log out it stops running, therefore your failed backups.
FreeFTPD is no longer supported by cisco, just an FYI. That doesn't mean it does not work, just not supported.

Theres an actual setting in the program that you use to tie to the local account. It doesn't just automatically know.

Whykap, even as a service, it still does this. I don't remember it doing so, but I actually had a customer last week with this same issue, so its fresh in my mind.

Personally, I say pay the money for something like CoreFTP. Titan is good but expensive. But in any case, you do get what you pay for sometimes.
