hi,
can any one help me in how i can set my environment so that there is no need to write set TERM=vt100 every time i login..is there any programme(small one) for doin this??
and also when i want to c .profile it gives command no t found?? so can any one help on this

I will respond for SCO variants.
In your .profile in place of the term selection you do an
eval `tset -s` which causes the system to look at /etc/ttytype for the terminal type.
The alternative is to add to you .profile the lines
TERM=terminal type
export TERM

In AIX the following entry in your .profile will do the same for you:
export TERM=vt100

You need to look in your login user's home directory, if not there you can create it. IBM Certified Confused - MQSeries
IBM Certified Flabbergasted - AIX 5 pSeries System Administration

You may find a file called "profile" in the /etc directory, you can use this as a template to create your .profile file. IBM Certified Confused - MQSeries
