set Tableproperties in MS word from Access VBA

I set up a doc by values from MS Access.
also making a table in the doc
the table has 8 columns and i rows.
the last rows of the table contain some information, I need to set up these sentences over more then 1 column.
it looks al little bit like this:

value1 | value2 | value3 | value4
type some text over 4 columns
I use mytable.rows.add to put rows in the table. Maybe I need an other method here or can I set the properties so 4 columns become 1?

does somebody know the code to merge 2 or more cells in a table in MS word
manually you can select 2 or more cells and then right click the mouse and then merge cells

how works it in vba?
